Wednesday Why: Why Are Sale Items Always Out Of Stock?

Why Are The Sale Items Always Out Of Stock?

There is obviously more than one answer to this question but the quick answer would be that most stores aren’t prepared for “us” ( couponers and deal hunters) and do not order sufficient stock.   Coupon use is at an all time high so hopefully stores will catch on sooner than later.

We can’t just put the blame on the stores not having enough in stock though.  There are couponers ( and non coupon users) that will wait until a store opens and then they will buy every last one of a particular sale item leaving the store shelves bare.  PLEASE, if you know that you are planning on buying a TON of a particular sale item at one time then let the store manager know and more often than not, they will pre-order however many of that item that you want.  This makes life as a couponer so much easier.

I do want to add  that the saying is true “the early bird gets the worm” so if you are able to be at the stores on Sunday (or whenever the new sale starts) bright and early then do it!  Chances are the shelves WILL be cleared if you wait a few days.

What are your thoughts?  Do you usually try to get in on the deals the first day of the sale or do you wait until the last minute?  How has that worked for you?  Have you ever had a manager pre-order something for you?  Please share your comments in the “comments section” above.

I try to get to the stores early in the week if possible but usually that doesn’t happen. My coupons are a total mess and I can’t get them and my list done in time. Everything is usually gone Thursdays or Fridays when I get a chance to go. I end up having to get a raincheck and hope the products get in before my coupons expire.

Hi, Amy! It sounds like we are very much the same when it comes to couponing 😉 Other than these last 2 days, I usually don’t get to go until the end of the week either.
