Target is undergoing a new computer system and there are still some bugs to be worked out with the registers. According to SEVERAL other couponers, the registers are now automatically adjusting coupons down if the face value exceeds the price of the item. For example: the 1 load Tide travel size is $0.97 at Target. The “old” system would have beeped and the cashier would have had to adjust the coupon down to $0.97 off manually or else just push the coupon through without adjusting ( giving the customer 3 cents on overage towards other items). The overage has always been a YMMV situation and was wonderful when it happened. The coupons adjusting down without beeping is also very nice though because it means less “problems” from the cashiers 😉
**The problem with this though is that any coupon that is meant to be off of more than 1 item is now only taking off the current price of 1 of the items. For example : Some of the Rayovac batteries are being found in Target’s Dollar Spot for as low as $0.25. Let’s say you have the $1 off of 2 Rayovac coupon and you buy 2 packs of the Rayovac batteries clearanced at 25cents each. You are of course hoping that you will get both packs for free with the coupon. While the registers now are reportedly adjusting the $1/2 coupon down to take off only 25cents which is only the price of one of the packs even though the coupon is supposed to be off of both packs and should take off 50 cents or whatever the price of 2 packs would be at your store.
****BE SURE TO WATCH THE SCREEN ON THE REGISTER TO MAKE SURE YOUR COUPONS ARE SCANNING CORRECTLY! DON”T BE AFRAID TO LET YOUR CASHIER KNOW SO THAT THEY CAN FIX IT! ****
